The Mission Viejo Diablos girls swimming team fought hard against the Trabuco Hills Mustangs winning the 200 medley relay with a season best time of 1:57.66, lowering the Diablos CIF consideration time in that event. The Diablos relay team of Jacqueline Setlich, Miki Gruener, Hanna Erickson, and Briana Daniel earned 8 points giving the Diablos a two-point advantage over the Mustangs.
The Mustangs came back in the 200 free, tying the score. It remained tied through the 200 IM, but the Mustangs pulled ahead by six points after the 50 freestyle. The Diablos kept the score close conceding just two points to the Mustangs in the 100 butterfly, 100 freestyle, and 500 freestyle.
The Mustangs trounced the Diablos in the last four events of the meet to win with a final score of Diablos 63, Mustangs 107. The Diablos only scored three first-place finishes throughout the meet. In addition to the medley relay, Erickson finished first in the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly. The Diablos managed to earn six second-place finishes in the meet, but it was not enough to defeat the Mustangs.
